Hi Kateb,
I spotted the link to this website on your magicmum signature - thanks for directing me to here! Sometimes I feel like a bit of a freek, nursing a toddler, co-sleeping etc! Everytime I wear the sling atleast 1 persons says something like "will she not break your back?" Ireland is really not open to this style of parenting. The comments from well meaning people are probably going to get worse for me as I am pregnant again - the the tandem nursing thing is almost unheard of. Everyone just assumes that I will have to stop nursing DD1.

It is great to come across this site and feel like there are other like minded people out there somewhere. As I am working full time I cannot attend LaLeche meetings, and I really miss the comradarie there. Anyone else in Ireland out there like to join us?!!

We have great online meetings too!
Third wednesday night of the month at 8.30pm!
COme along and meet the rest of us from all over Europe.

There are a lot of parents becoming more interested in a gentler and less power struggle type of parenting when they realise that their previously used authoratarian style is not really working well.

Having tandem nursed through 4 pregnancies and babywearing happily along with cosleeping to make my life and my childrens lives more pleasant and relaxed!

Hi! I just checked in to AP Ireland and found a whole new site!!!!!

Would love to join in.

I wanted to do the meeting last night, but it's not at a great time for me. I am either putting the kids to bed or else Ali at least is running around at 90 miles an hour in the last stretch before bed.

Any alternatives?

Oh - for those that don't know me, I am Eleanor, in Carlow and I have 2 children, Ali aged 2.5 and Ayesha aged 4.5mths.

I'd love to do the meeting! where do I find the info about it?
Scubachick - I have to agree with you. I am Canadian and we have been living in Canada since DD was born (Oct 2006) - I don't have any mom friends here and am a homebody so thankfully dont have to deal with others unsolicited opinions/advice, but when we were in Ireland last March and amungst many friends and family I was drilled constantly about our parenting choices. Everyone thought I was crazy or some kind of martyr for "still" bfing my then 6 month old...lol. And a sling/wrap/MT???Well, why use those when I have a perfectly good stroller!
I'm sure everyone will be shocked to hear that yes, at 19,months DD is still in our bed and stil; nursing and STILL not sleeping through the night..but worst of all...I'm OK with all of it! LOL.

Well am off to bed now - wrecked - so hope to talk soon!

(PS I go to the Monday evening face to face meetings and also attend the online meetings every 3rd Wed - great stuff!)

Hello! I had forgotten that I joined up here. Ali is now 4 and 1 month and Ayesha will be 2 in a couple of weeks!!!!!!

I have yet to make a meeting in real life and I think I might have partially visited an online one once but my connection wasn't great.

Could we do an Irish one kind of later in the evening some night? Maybe after 9pm or so?

Yes, I meant an online meeting after 9pm as my kiddos are in bed at that stage. The EU online meetings are bang-on bed time here, so don't suit at all. :(
And getting up to a real meeting is proving to be impossible aswell. :(

Have to set up my own group!
